JULY FEATURED ARTIST
Miel Paredes
Mixed Media Metalwork
Join us an art reception for the artist
Friday, July 3rd from 6-9:00pm.
Show runs Friday, July 3rd through Tuesday, August 4th.
Stainless steel and re-purposed animal figurines come together as movable ‘toys’ in this exhibition of fantastical three dimensional art.
Bright animal figures are staged upon and within rolling, turning or bouncing hand-cut metal ‘sets’. Imagine squirrels bounding
out of a tiny meadow of metal grass upon a metal spring and rats whirling upon an intricately detailed ferris wheel. All art
pieces are expertly crafted and infused with whimsy.
Also shown will be a selection of the
'Gnaw' series. The "Gnaw" series was developed out of earlier work that was originally inspired
by the practice of decorating one's home with hunting trophies - the use of the animal as ornamentation for interior spaces.
Rodents are by turns considered disease-ridden vermin, culinary delicacies, and cuddly pets. While they are among the animals
most likely to be found within homes and buildings (whether welcome or otherwise), rodents are not often seen in architectural
ornamentation or the decorative arts. Miel based the designs for these pieces on traditional ornamental rosettes and grotesque masks,
incorporating the noses and mouths of rodents.

AUGUST FEATURED ARTIST
Hadley Hutton
Encaustic Monoprints
Join us an art reception for the artist
Friday, August 7th from 6-9:00pm.
Show runs Friday, August 7th through Tuesday, September 1st.
Hadley’s work is a blend of traditional painting and modern design. She draws inspiration from Asian patterns and motifs,
Victorian die cuts, and geometric designs. Her work explores nature’s beauty, people’s influence on their surroundings,
and the environment's influence on people.
The paintings typically are created with a monoprint printed on an etching press using ink and/or watercolor pencils.
A monoprint is a print made from a plate that can only be printed once.(unlike other printing processes where you can
create multiples with a plate). And finally the print is mounted on wood and painted with wax and oil pastels or varnished
with an acrylic medium.
